Software Testing Training FAQ
What's the best course to improve the quality of my test team?
Good question, making sure that you achieve your training objectives is our job. Basically, it all depends on which 'quality attributes' are most important to you, the experience of your individual testers, the type of projects they are working on, your team objectives, the maturity of your testing processes, etc.. Each training solution is different. Call or send us an e-mail to discuss your training requirements so that Software Education can guarantee that you achieve your training objectives!
What is the difference between the User Acceptance Testing and Introduction to Software Testing course?
Both courses are developed for people new to Software Testing. The main difference is that the User Acceptance Test course zooms into the User Acceptance Test level, whereas the Introduction to Software Testing Course covers all test levels (like Unit Testing, System Testing and also User Acceptance Testing) in equal detail.
ISTQB - What is all the excitement about?
With over 40 national boards around the world, the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) offers arguably the most recognised global certification in software testing:
- More than 125,000 ISTQB certificates have already been issued.
- The ISTQB foundation and advanced syllabi have been developed by an international team of software testing experts offering over 1,000 person-years of test experience.
- It is an international, objective assessment of your testing knowledge.
- ISTQB provides a universal testing language and proven methodology maximising the effectiveness of software testing in your organisation.

Where can I sit the ISTQB Exams?
At the moment, there are three ways to sit the exam:
- Paper-based exam: The ANZTB facilitates paper-based exams on a regular basis in the main city centres; for more details go to www.anztb.org. After passing the exam you will receive the ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing. Normally it takes a week to get your exam results and certificate.
- Computer-based exam (foundation exam only): Book your exam via Prometric at a time and place that suits your busy schedule. You will know your exam result straight after the exam and receive your certificate normally within a month. After passing the exam you will receive the UK based ISEB – ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing. This exam is recognised by both the ISTQB and ISEB.
- In-House exam: For in-house courses we can facilitate a paper-based in-house examination at a time and place that suits your team. Ask us for more details.
Why is the exam not part of Software Education's ISTQB course?
Software Education recommends all students to leave preparation time between completing an ISTQB course and the corresponding ISTQB exam. This allows time for additional mock-exam practice, to strengthen your retained knowledge, and is an opportunity to revisit the ISTQB documentation at your own pace. Another reason is that not all ISTQB course participants choose to obtain certification.

I would like to improve my test automation skills, which course covers test automation?
Most of our courses provide you with an overview of the different type of test tools available. Our Web Testing course goes one step further, e.g. contains examples of how to apply functional and performance testing tools.
